The residents of German dark/synth/coldwave label Cold Transmission, Incirrina – the band from Athens released the new double single on Friday 13th, “Immersion” dives once more into their enchanted world of analogue synthesizers with their rich sounds, captivating riffs and groovy beats. Soulful, socially aware and introspective, their songs stand up for what is humane and beautiful, what can inspire, what should be rescued. The introductory poem expresses their reasons for making music: To search for a freedom out of the despair that may surround us, to communicate feelings and concerns, to immerse into oceans of sound, energy and emotion. All that is humane is their source of inspiration. All else fails.
“Presence” is a depiction of a moment, an event, a sudden difference in the flow of time. A Presence is the Other. It can change everything, it can turn things around. It may be dangerous, it may lead to nothing, but it is also our only possibility. It is the point in time we experience a hovering moment of realization, inspired by a Presence, the other person revealed as Beauty.
“Alien Room” speaks metaphorically about domestic violence – the next-door violence , unfortunately so common nowadays and throughout the ages. The scenery of a living room – supposed to be a cocoon, a place of serenity, but for the Victim , it is the lounge of torture. A Sci Fi movie is on and the perpetrator is described to act as if he is acting in the film. Isolation and darkness. For this particular song Incirrina chose to use vocal chorus parts inspired by traditional polyphonic lament songs, to express the victim’s screaming in void, as nobody can hear – this is happening as if elsewhere, as if no one knew. It seems that some creatures have had no right in birth.
Incirrina will be on tour from October 1st, 2024 in Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria.
