Rayfia – female DIY singer, songwriter released a debut album “Apophenia“, an old school version of modern pop and bright synthwave in the dark.
In addition to Rayfia’s charismatic vocals, guitar and piano chords in the foreground, behind is a wall of sounds and ideas created and recorded by Alex Kelman, an artist and sound producer, who fulfilled the Rayfia’s demos with catchy melodies, synths, drum machines and shoegazing guitars.
“I Want To Be Alone” – an album starts with a piano fragile song that sounds very tragic and tiny, it is cold and you probably ready for the next slow motion, but…
“Say That To Me” – playing next and is still slow, much more skeptical and remind an old good Sneaking Pimps. This track was released as a first album’s single with a video.
“The Cup” – finally explodes the album, spins and carries forward at high speed, where 90’s rave and meat Primal Scream.
“Vanilla Skies” – The quintessence of trip-hop and yes, it also reminds of Sneaking Pimps within a Kasabian groove. Beautiful crystal synths at the end of the track suddenly fall down and changed to a strange electro-rock verse on which the track breaks off.
“Dislike” – probably the most danceable and in the same naive track from the whole album would look good in a series about college graduation. With disappointments and hopes in the last episode of course.
“Pouring Rain” – the most beautiful track on the album sways with measured dub and leaves you wanting to fly away from this stupid planet.
“Nicht Su Schlecht” – nice and upbeat, hopeful end to the album, where German language and 2 raumworhung spirits appear and some incredible dream-pop guitars at the end.
The artist about the album:
“This album is my diary and each track pulsing with its own story. “Apophenia” is an experiment in perception. You’ll hear synthesizers beating in rhythm with real feelings, and textures telling stories better than words ever could. These tracks are my personal revelations about the people, passions, and years that have shaped me. This is a manifesto of love, clothed in the sonic form of the future. Enjoy!”
